About Jeffrey M. Perkins
I began the practice of law as an associate in the field of real estate transactions before starting Perkins Law Office, PLC. I have since worked and represented people in a myriad of areas of law in both Iowa and Illinois. My background as of this writing includes family law matters related to marriage dissolution, establishment of parental rights, adoption, and custody. I also contracted with the Iowa State Public Defender’s office for a number of years, and I’ve handled countless private criminal defense matters. I have helped and continue to help clients with business structuring, planning, contracting, and ongoing concerns. What's more, I prosecute and defend civil litigation matters at the trial and appellate level.
Since the inception of Perkins Law Office, PLC, I have steadily increased my focus to work with people in need of estate and succession planning. I also provide highly personalized services in probate and trust estate administration with experience ranging from small estates to high-net worth individuals.
The one constant through my mixed history of legal experience has been and continues to be closely assisting people in need of an advocate. Advocacy is not limited to those moments spent preparing, negotiating, or presenting arguments for outcomes in adversarial settings. It also extends to making sense of how courts, administrative agencies, and the law affect our everyday lives and goals while assisting people with navigating, leveraging, or outright avoiding each institution's respective powers.
The legal system is intimidating to the uninitiated and seasoned alike no matter what one's needs. My job is to make it more accessible and understandable to my clients and to do so without compromise.
One central tenet to the way I practice is not only to provide someone with the best service possible, it is to also recognize whether I am the best person for whatever one's particular situation may require. That’s to say I am happy to review your matter and refer you to another attorney if I am not the one best suited to address your legal needs.
